There are interactive boards (whiteboards) and promethean board that engage our student in the lessons. I think we reach and hold the attention of many more students by using this tool because it is hand-on instruction. These tools engage the students in ways that teacher never would have imagined.
Some of the concepts that teachers try to reach students with are more visible with technology.

What classroom would you like to sit in an interactive classroom or a traditional classroom?
You're absolutely right that technology helps teachers teach to multiple learning styles. I think it goes beyond visual learners, though. Kinesthetic learners can manipulate graphics and organize notes into patterns that make sense. Auditory learners can use podcasts or voicethread posts to listen to information being presented. And those who need more than one method can get everything at once!
ReplyDeleteIn my classes (I teach solely online), I try to provide something to meet each learning style in each lesson. I'll have manipulatives for students to practice with, audio to listen to, and various graphics or other things like video clips to provide visual elements. Even for students who have a particular learning style, they often benefit from the other activities as well.
