This year in my classes, which are Principles of Information Technology, I interact with many diverse learners. What I have experienced is that even though these learners learn differently the use of technology brings them to a common ground of communication and creatvity. I am able to use Project Base Learning and hands on learning. They are eager to learn with the use of many different technologies. I have reached some of the most difficult students by using interactive boards, powerpoint software and online learning.
By using technology to reach diverse students, in a lot of areas the teacher become more of a facilitator and empowers the students to learn in different learning styles.
Some of the concepts that teachers try to reach students with are more visible with technolgy.

What's best about using technology for diverse learners, is that you can reach them all with the same technology. Auditory, Visual, Kinetic, ect. learners can all be taught using computers, smart boards, ipods, and ipads. And it will be engaging and challenging for them. You can use it teach any subject and keep the students interests in mind. I have learned just through the course of the MIST program that I can reach more students, especially those who have failed in the traditional class setting by incorporating a wider variety of technology use in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteNatalie, I am really impressed by the Irving ISD. I hope to one day be that instructional technology person in my ISD. I was surprised to hear them say Irving was the first 1:1 campus in 2001. I did not realize that the idea had been around for so long. Thank you for posting this video. I will be watching more of their stuff. Thank you again.
